Score any job title

Type the job. We show you what people in it already pay to fix, whether money is moving toward the problem, and who is hiring for it by name.

Who is hiring for this work right now

Real postings from the index, most recent first. An employer already paying a salary to do a job by hand has proven two things at once: the problem is real, and there is a budget behind it. That is why this is the heaviest part of the score.

What this work costs to buy piecemeal

Freelance contracts with a price on them. When a company will pay a stranger this much to handle the work for a few weeks, the software version of it has a number to beat.

How the score works

Three things, each one capped, adding up to 100. Every one is a count of records we collected.

  • People here already buy softwareup to 35

How many people bought a tool for this job and left a review. We only count tools built for this job, not general business software.

  • How easy the buyer is to findup to 30

How spread out the hiring is. Forty small employers beat one giant one, because forty are reachable.

  • Room left on the shelfup to 35

How many established tools already serve the job. A crowded shelf scores low, because there is no ground left to own.

Common questions

What are some business ideas that already have demand?
We have scored 68 software categories and 11 of them say build. Fourteen clear the score threshold, but three of those rest on too few hiring records to trust yet, so they are held back rather than counted. Laboratory information management software scores highest at 77, then procurement and fire department software at 76, then facility management at 75. Every one serves a job people already get paid to do.
What are good business ideas, and how would I know?
A good idea here means money is already moving toward the problem. We check that by counting: what employers pay to do the work by hand, what freelancers charge for it, how often people complain about the tools they have, and how many tools already exist. If nobody is paying for a fix today, you would have to create the demand and the product at once, which is two jobs.
How do I find startup ideas without guessing?
Type a job title in the box above. You get a score out of 100, the three things behind it, the tools that job already pays for, and the employers hiring for it by name. It is free, there is no signup, and the answer is the same for everyone who types the same title.
